Coastal Fun

Hi guys! I have been running around like crazy lately. We have hit four states on an extended buying trip for our business. My fiancée and I found ourselves at the Winnie Texas flea market recently. Winnie isn't too far from Galveston so we decided to have some fun!
First we had lunch at Fishtails at Seawall beach in Galveston across the street from pleasure pier.
Check out the view! The food was fresh and tasty. I recommend the grilled yellowfin tuna with lemon pepper.

After lunch, we got a wild hair.....

We went for a guided horseback ride on the beach with Beach Bum Horse Rides. I highly recommend them! Leslie and Bob are friendly, professional folks and their horses are great! It was a blast!
Me and Fiancée. Yes guys. I'm riding barefoot a'la Barefoot Contessa. After the ride we went fishing at Rollover Pass.

At first, we only caught these little guys. I accidentally caught him this way, I almost cried I felt so bad! One of the locals unhooked him and released him, assuring me he would be okay. We moved spots and I caught this:
This is what a 26 inch long Red Drum looks like! He had some fight in him too!

Little known fact. Fishing in the sea is fun, but when you are done you smell like cat food. Seriously . Later, we went back to the camp and grilled supper.
What else? Red Drum with veggie kabobs. Well, better hit the hay. Big stuff coming up guys!
Thanks for reading,

Easy Decision ?

Hi guys! Planning a wedding can be challenging, but choosing my gown doesn't have to be.  Initially I thought I would do a traditional  wedding gown, ya know, long sleeves , something a'la Grace Kelly.  I love the idea of me in a full length wedding gown floating down the aisle like a princess .But I want also to feel unique.Plus I can't justify paying so dearly for a dress I can only wear once.
Then I got to poking around on the Internet and ended up at Whirling Turban's website. And there I found that in addition to making swoon worthy retro  couture dresses they also make some very impressive wedding dresses.

I find myself very partial to the Liz dress for a couple of reasons.
I adore their Peggy Would bodice style.
It is sexy, but in a classic elegance kind if way. Plus, its Whirling Turban so the fit would be completely custom unlike pricey off the rack options. I also like that should I choose to, I could wear it as many times I   want because the look isn't exclusively bridal. It could  be just the lookI am after.
I could pair this with a vintage veil , my vintage rhinestone tiara, nude seamed stockings and white satin pumps with a pointed toe and I own a blue rhinestone vintage brooch ( something blue) a Weiss rhinestone bracelet perhaps with matching earrings with slightly winged eye liner, false lashes and red lipstick ( as always :)  What do you think?

The Big Idea

Hi guys! Still on cloud nine! It might be really early but I'm already planning the shindig. We think, in honor of where met and fell in love, that we would really like to have the ceremony and reception at Canton First Monday during the show.I'm already thinking about a flea market meets carnival theme. In a way, Canton makes perfect sense as most of our friends will be here already. Of course I'm still thinking and nothing is hard and fast yet but as far as I know, it has never been done before. But I will keep you guys posted as things develop!

Of Love and Junk

Flea markets are interesting places. You can find anything you are looking for, but more often than things that you didn't know you needed find you . But sometimes, it's a person. At least in my case. That's how I met Randy.

We had been neighbors at Canton First Monday Trade Days for just over six months when we decided we had more in common than just the junk we sell. So, we started dating back in November and hit it off right away. We pick together , we go to auctions together . Pretty much if you see one of us you see the other.
We have been dating about nine months now.

This spring we decided to take a trip to New Orleans. On May 14th Randy proposed in the French Quarter on a carriage infront of the St. Mary's church.

I said yes!!!

Pics from the Road: Texas's Historic Highway 80 Sale

Howdy from Texas y'all! Picking junk can certainly lead to some intriguing discoveries. Like this buckaroo squirrel clinging to the back of a wildly thrashing raccoon. Gotta love Texas folks!

Back from Roundtop/ Warrenton

Hi folks! I'm just now back from the Roundtop and Warrenton shows in Texas . For those of you that are unfamiliar it's a massive twice a year trade show. Basically what it boils down to is Canton First Mondays on steroids! I was only there a day and I swear I walked ten miles and did not see it all. No joke guys. This is a big show. I did go through quite a few fields however. I tried to take pictures but my phone died on me so I kinda dropped the ball on that one. I really had fun in all the booths in Zapp Field in Warrenton. I visited the Junk Gypsy tent and stopped in at Punkies Place and had fun at Dead People's Stuff. I behaved myself through all if this however . But believe you me, vintage abounds here so it was hard. My picking partner/ Beaux as sweet as he is surprised me with a lovely Mexican blouse . So now I will regale you all with a poor photo taken in my friends house . Here goes:

I'm Back Y'all

Hi everyone! It's been far too long. I know. But I have been busy folks. I have been scouring the country for awesome junk to bring to the booth. I was even on an episode of Travel Channel's Baggage Battles with my picking partner. I have done quite a lot in the time I've been away, but I'm back now. So sit down, get comfy and get ready to read more!
